Troubleshooting for images in content elements

In the following sections you will find information on how to solve different issues/errors that can occur when adding images to content elements.

  • Your shop supports the following image file formats: JPG, PNG, and GIF. If your images are not in one of these formats, you will need to change their file format to be able to upload them to your shop. For further information, refer to Learn about image file formats.

  • If the file size of an image exceeds 20 megabytes (MB), you have two options:

Option 1: Change the image file format

You can upload images to your shop in the JPG, PNG, or GIF format. These formats have different characteristics which also affect the file size. Thus, changing the image file format might reduce the file size. For further information, refer to Learn about image file formats.

    Option 2: Compress the image

You can compress the image to reduce the file size (e.g. by reducing the resolution). To do this, you can use basic image editors, for example when you open the image on your device. For further information on how to do this, refer to the help information of your chosen tool. Alternatively, you can also use various free online tools.

Note that the image quality might be affected when compressing the image.

  • Depending on the size of the image you would like to add to a content element, the upload might take a while. As soon as the image has been uploaded, you can edit and save it.

  • You can upload GIFs to image content elements, but they cannot have more than 100 frames. There are free online tools available that can help you with reducing your GIF’s frame rate. For further information about GIFs, refer to Learn about image file formats.

  • Your shop supports image resolutions with a maximum width of 7000 pixels and a maximum height of 7000 pixels.

If your image exceeds this resolution, you can reduce its size with the help of basic image editors, for example when you open an image on your device. For further information on how to do this, refer to the help information of your chosen tool. Alternatively, you can also use various free online tools.

Note that the image quality may be affected when you reduce the resolution.
