Import of product images

Any imports are carried out at your own risk. If you import a defective file, you could potentially destroy the data of your shop.

You can import product images in bulk into your shop. This is useful if you would like to add a bigger amount of products to your shop at the same time, because you won't have to upload the images manually one by one.

How to import product images

  1. Create a ZIP file of the product images you would like to upload
  2. Add file names to the product import file
  3. Import the ZIP file and the product import file
  4. Check the images

1. Create a ZIP file of the product images you would like to upload

With a ZIP file, several images can be bundled into one file. This works differently for Windows or Mac. Please note that the image file names should not contain spaces.

For Windows

  1. Collect the images you would like to import in one folder on your computer.
  2. Select all images.
  3. Select one of the images with a right click, select Send to and then Compressed (zipped) folder.
  4. Optionally, you can enter a name for the ZIP file, but the name is not relevant for the import.

The ZIP file has been created on your computer. You can find it in the same folder.

For Mac

  1. In the Finder, select the images you would like to import.
  2. Right-click the images and select Compress X Items. X is the number of items you selected.

The ZIP file has been created on your computer. You can find it in the same directory.

2. Add file names to the product import file

For the next step, you'll need an import file with products. You can export it from your current shop or from another shop of the same shop system. For further information, refer to Exporting data. For the export, under More optionsSeparator, select semi-colon (;). For further information, refer to Edit exported data.

  1. Open the CSV file containing the products with software like LibreOffice Calc.
  2. In the column Image for magnified view, enter the file name of the image from the ZIP file that should be used as main image of the product in question, for example: product-image-1.jpg. In the column Images for gallery/slideshow, enter the file names of the images that should be used as additional images for this product. Separate the file names with a comma, for example: product-image-2.jpg,product-image-3.jpg,product-image-4.jpg.
  3. Save the changes.

3. Import the ZIP file and the product import file

  1. In the sidebar of the administration, navigate to SettingsExport and import.
  2. Select Import.
  3. Select Data importProducts.
  4. Select the button Select file next to CSV import file. Select the product file from your computer.
  5. Select the button Select file next to Image archive (.ZIP file format). Select the ZIP file from your computer.
  6. Under More options, choose the same settings that you chose during the export of the product file.
  7. Select Import.

At the top of the page, a message will appear, letting you know if the import was successful. If it wasn't successful, you can learn more in the article Edit exported data.
