Use search filters for your shop

Note that the availability of this feature depends on your selected shop package. Contact your provider for more information.

To make it easier for your customers to find the products they are looking for, you can offer search filters in your shop. This filtering option is displayed on the search results page after a search in your shop. In addition, you can display the search filters on your category pages.

How to activate search filters

1. In the sidebar of the administration, navigate to Settings → Search.
2. Select Yes under Activate search filters.

You can now make further settings regarding the search filters in your shop. Some filters are already predefined, these are the category, the manufacturer, or the price range. But you can deactivate these filters if you want. Of course, you can also deactivate all search filters for your shop again by selecting No under Activate search filters.

How to display search filters on category pages

1. In the sidebar of the administration, navigate to Settings → Search.
2. Select Yes under Display search filters on category pages.
3. Decide on which category level you want to display the search filters. To do this, move the slider on the example category. This enables the search filter for this category level and all sub-levels.
   Note that it is not possible to display search filters on the homepage.
   
4. Select Save.

On the chosen category level and all sub-levels, a filter button is now displayed to your customers. This allows your customers to configure the filter options. Depending on the design of your shop, this button looks something like this:

How to deactivate the predefined filters

If you do not want to use the predefined filters for category, manufacturer, and price range, you can easily deactivate them.

1. In the sidebar of the administration, navigate to Settings → Search.
2. Under Predefined filters, deactivate the filters you don't want to display by unchecking the box in the column Use in shop search.
3. Select Save.

How to use product attributes for search filters

You can also use your product attributes as search filters in your shop. However, this is only available for product attributes of the type Text with value selection. For further information about product attributes, refer to the article Product types and attributes.

1. In the sidebar of the administration, navigate to Settings → Search.
2. Under Product attributes, select the product type for which you want to make the settings.
3. Activate all desired filter attributes by checking the box in the column Use in shop search.
4. Select Save.
