You can automatically create product descriptions using AI-powered text generation. AI-generated product descriptions can offer you significant benefits for your online business. If used correctly, they can save time and costs and foster creativity. Simply provide the vital product details and the AI will work its magic to help you write the text.

Caution

Note that you are responsible for the accuracy of all content, even when it is generated automatically. The generated text may contain benefits and facts for similar products, but those will not necessarily apply to your product. Be sure to review the generated description before publishing it to ensure accuracy.

How to generate AI product descriptions

The AI uses all the information provided to generate your product description. Better product details lead to higher-quality generated descriptions. Begin by providing a product name and a few relevant keywords. Including more keywords results in more precise, tailored content. Further information on improving content suggestions is available below. The language of the generated content depends on the language the keywords and product name are provided in.

The AI descriptions are generated by OpenAI’s AI assistant. By using this feature, you agree to OpenAI’s Terms of use.

• If a product doesn’t have a description yet, you can use this feature to generate one. You only need to add some keywords about your product.

  This is how it works:

  1. In the sidebar of the administration, navigate to Products → View products.
  2. In the table, select the respective product number of the product you would like to edit or add a new one.
  3. Select Generate description with AI below the Description field. If you want to generate a description for a new product, note that you’ll need to add a product name or an image and save your changes before you can access this option.
     A pop-up opens.
  4. Add product information as keywords and separate them with commas. For example, red wine, Spain, excellent quality.
  5. Select Generate description.

     Caution

     The AI needs tokens in order to generate descriptions. The number of tokens needed for a new description depends on the length of the descriptions and the source language (e.g. 3 sentences typically require around 300 tokens). Your amount of tokens is refilled on the 1st of every month.
  6. Review the generated content and edit it as needed to make sure it is accurate and fits your product.
  7. Select Apply generated description.

  You have created a product description with the help of AI. Remember to save your changes for the product.

• If a product already has a description, you can use this feature to optimise it. The AI will base its suggestion on your current product description. You only need to make sure that the description contains all relevant product information.

  This is how you do it:

  1. In the sidebar of the administration, navigate to Products → View products.
  2. In the table, select the respective product number of the product for which you want to update the description.
  3. Select Optimise description with AI below the Description field.
     A pop-up opens.
  4. For better results, add product information as keywords to your current description and separate them with commas. For example, red wine, Spain, excellent quality.
  5. Select Generate new description.

     Caution

     The AI needs tokens in order to generate descriptions. The number of tokens needed for a new description depends on the length of the descriptions and the source language (e.g. 3 sentences typically require around 300 tokens). Your amount of tokens is refilled on the 1st of every month.
  6. Review the generated content and edit it as needed to make sure it is accurate and fits your product.

  8. Confirm that you want to replace your current product description with the new description by selecting Replace current description.
     
     Note that this action cannot be undone and you will not be able to recover the previous description.

  You have optimised your product description with the help of AI. Remember to save your changes for the product.

If your product name doesn't explicitly describe the type of product, you might get lower quality results. Be sure to provide keywords that indicate the product type or category, such as bag or soap.

Target the customer
Effective product descriptions cater to the needs and interests of your target customers. To achieve this, incorporate keywords that highlight the product's relevance to specific customer groups, such as the elderly or environmentally conscious. This valuable information helps to highlight the benefits of the product.

Details about materials, production method, fit, intended use
These vital product details play a significant role in shaping customers' buying choices. Customers often have a specific product image in mind while searching. By providing these essential details, your shop can become more visible and aids customers in finding the perfect match for their needs.
