Test your shop before you open it

Before you open your shop, it is recommended to review it and to place a test order to see if everything looks and works as desired.

If you view your shop when it is not open yet, you will see a banner at the top with a note saying that your shop is closed. As soon as you have opened your shop, the banner will no longer be visible.

How to review your shop

To start reviewing your shop, select View your shop at the top of your shop administration.

When reviewing your shop, you can focus on the following elements:

• Take a look at your shop structure including menu type and categories.
• Open your main menu and go through some of your shop’s pages to see if everything looks as intended and if any dummy texts, dummy products and/or dummy images have been removed or replaced.
• Review the overall design including your header layout.
• Review your footer to make sure all the legal pages, Social Media profiles as well as logos of payment and delivery methods are displayed as desired.
• View some of your products to make sure your product pages include all the necessary information. For further information refer to Add and set up products.

How to place a test order

To make sure your customers can order your products as intended, it is recommended to place a test order before opening your shop.

1. At the top of your shop administration, select View your shop.
   Your shop opens in a new tab.
2. Select one of your products.
3. Add the product to the basket.
4. Select View basket on the banner that appears or select the basket icon at the top right of your shop.
5. Select Checkout.
6. Select Continue as a guest.
7. Enter your information and continue with Next.
8. Review your delivery methods. Select a delivery method and continue with Next.
   If you would like to make changes to your delivery methods, refer to Set up delivery methods for more information.
9. Review your payment methods. Select a payment method and continue with Next.

   Select a manual payment method, such as invoice or cash. Online payment providers, such as PayPal, will not be informed that you are running a test order. Therefore, if you select an online payment method, you may have to make a payment to yourself.

10. Select Buy now to complete the order.
11. In your shop administration, navigate to Orders → View orders.
The order you have just placed appears in bold. You can select its order number to look at the details.
12. Check your inbox to see if you received any email notifications as per your settings under Settings → Email notifications.

You have placed a test order.

If everything works fine, remember to delete your test order and correct the stock level of the ordered product before you open your shop.

Now you can start advertising your shop and wait for the first orders to arrive.
